Music, Art & Creativity / Urban rewilding photography

I really like the concept of nature overgrowing man-made buildings. Here is a photo-gallery by an Argentinian Photographer I just discovered at deviantART:

In my own gallery I published a photo of a Yurt a friend of mine is now living in:

Media Reviews & Recommendations / French Sci-Fi movie "Eden Log" (2007)
« on: October 31, 2010, 06:03:08 AM »
I just saw an extraordinary French Sci-Fi movie from 2007 called "Eden Log" (Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQz9hhKiDqg). It's also available with English dubbing (or subs).
For me it is a really good allegory for the abusive civilization we live in. In the end of the movie the solution is a radical reconnection to nature.
The movie has a very dark ambience and I got reminded of the old computer game "System Shock 2" and the "Alien" movies with Sigourney Weaver.
It's a very thrilling movie because at the beginning the main character awakes in the darkness with amnesia. The viewer (& the main character of course) has no clue what's it all about. The story is reveiled bit by bit...

Except for the tick invasion it sounds beautiful. It's really necessary to check your body for ticks once a day (Lyme disease). If you have lyme disease Dipsacus fullonum is a good herb.
And what about mosquitos?

Seasonal & Bioregion Strategies / Re: edible plants north-western europe - book suggestions?
« on: March 31, 2008, 02:40:54 PM »
I would suggest a German book called "Enzyklopädie der essbaren Wildpflanzen" by Steffen Guido Fleischhauer ( http://www.amazon.de/Enzyklop%C3%A4die-essbaren-Wildpflanzen-Pflanzen-Mitteleuropas/dp/3855028893 ). It contains 1500 plants native to central europe with description of their edible uses. But it is not suited for identify plants! It just makes brief descriptions of edible ueses!
So far I know, it's just available in German.

Rewild Camps, Events & Meet-ups / Re: project in spain

To prevent confusion: I just quoted the project description from the website. I am not involved in the project, yet. But I am going to visit it in may. So I want to bring attention to it, as other people might be interested in the project, too.
I agree to you. Rituals can be very important.

"The increasing desolation of nature, the exhaustion of resources, the uneasiness and disintegration of the human spirit, all have been brought about by humanity's trying to accomplish something." - Masanobu Fukuoka
We're basically attempting to attempt nothing. Which is harder than it sounds, and even more difficult to explain if you dont already understand.
We aim to live as in tune with the natural world as possible - We will grow vegetables (Fukuoka style, of course) hunt with a bow, keep chickens (or hope that they stay) and live in yurts or other simple structures. We might eventually build a simple house out of materials on the land.
We will be building a natural pool, which is a cop-out because its basically a hole with plastic in it, despite the fact it only uses plants to clean it.
Our aim is to become as dependent on the natural world as possible, to be as primitive as possible (without all the wierd sacrifices and naked dancing etc...although there might well be some naked dancing, just not ritualised). We will of course be easing ourselves into this way of life as we're well aware of how difficult its going to be, there will be no jumping in at the deep end...this is a long project.
Not really sure how we would like the community to develop but we thought it would be interesting to see if anyone was interested in what we're up to.

Hey, I am from Germany. I once visited the Haus der Gastfreundschaft of the Schenker near Parchim.
There is a rewilding - anarchoprimitivist camp scheduled for July 2008 in Poland. It's 100 km away from the city of Stettin. For more infos you should email to tsallantin at hotmail.com . If you do please post more precise information here...
